It is very important to get a heroin addict into heroin treatment as quickly as possible. This is due to the speed at which the condition progresses. Sometimes the drug methadone is used as a panacea; it is taken orally and acts to suppress withdrawal. Most importantly, it relieves the craving for the drug.
