The BasicsSunspire Health Hyde Park is a licensed residential treatment facility that provides a personal approach to care for women suffering from substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. Our highly trained team of physicians, nurses, therapists and residential staff are addiction specialists who will get to know each patient in order to develop an individualized recovery plan. All treatment plans follow an evidence-based, comprehensive model of treatment that heals whole patients as well as their family systems to set women up for a successful life in recovery.Accommodations and FoodSunspire Health’s Hyde Park facility is located in Tampa, Florida, within walking distance from the Bay Shore waterfront. The warm, home-like setting of Hyde Park is ideal for healing body, mind, and spirit. Our facility is set in a gorgeous turn-of-the-century renovated Victorian home within a residential neighborhood, providing an ideal environment for healing and escaping the chaos of addiction. With 20 beds available and nursing staff on-site 24 hours a day, our facility offers accommodations that give peace of mind to women seeking a life of sobriety. Treatment and StaffIn addition to its residential/inpatient program, Hyde Park offers a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) in buildings separate from residential patients. Each patient receives individualized treatment based on her specific needs for recovery. Patients have many different varieties of therapy available during treatment, including individual therapy, family therapy, CBT, gender-specific group work, psycho-education, motivational interviewing, relapse prevention, and adventure therapy. Alternative therapies such as yoga, meditation, and mindfulness are also offered. The facility has a high staff-to-patient ratio, ensuring that each patient receives the personalized care she deserves.
Serenity House provides both short- and long-term treatment options for adult men and women, ages 18 and above, who have been struggling with substance abuse and chemical dependency. With no more than six people receiving care at any one time, Serenity House offers an intensely personalized treatment experience to all who choose to heal with us. Reflecting our strong focus on holistic wellness, our comprehensive programming is designed to address the physical, emotional, and spiritual elements of addiction and recovery.At Serenity House, patients have the opportunity to work in close collaboration with experienced and dedicated treatment professionals as they progress through an evidenced-based treatment curriculum. Information on GHB Withdrawal Delirium Syndrome
Gamma-hydroxybutyrate (GHB) is the most dangerous and well-known drug to abuse, is unfamiliar to many psychiatric professionals. Recent cases of severe GHB withdrawal delirium have occurred in psychiatric settings, making it necessary for psychiatric professionals to be informed about the management of these patients.
GHB, a naturally occurring metabolite of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), is an inhibitory neurotransmitter that mediates sleep cycles, cerebral metabolism, memory and emotional control. Synthetic GHB, originally used by body builders for its putative anabolic effects, has more recently been abused for its sedative, euphoriant and aphrodisiac effects and as a “rave” and “date rape” drug.
GHB was previously available in health food stores and gyms, and it was marketed for its purported muscle building and fat burning effects. In 1990, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) banned the manufacture and distribution of GHB after receiving several reports of abuse leading to coma and seizures. Precursor compounds such as gamma-butyrolactone (GBL) and 1, 4-butanediol (BD), which can be converted by the body or simple chemical processing into GHB, remained available over the Internet. GHB is easily manufactured by illicit laboratories or by “home brew” recipes that have been published in books and on the Internet.
