Today, Serenity Knolls is a residential treatment center that provides comprehensive services to adult men and women, ages 18 and above, whose lives have been impacted by substance abuse, chemical dependency, and certain co-occurring conditions. We are prepared to provide care to men and women whose struggles include, but are not limited to, dependence upon the following addictive substances: alcohol, cannabis, stimulants, sedatives, benzodiazepines, hallucinogens, methamphetamine, PCP, and opioids including heroin, morphine, and prescription medications.We also welcome men and women whose primary diagnosis of a substance use disorder is accompanied by co-occurring anxiety disorders, bipolar disorders, depressive disorders, trauma-related disorders, personality disorders, and temporary psychosis that is directly related to substance abuse. However, we cannot accept individuals who are struggling with posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), pain disorders, and psychotic disorders that are not the direct result of substance abuse.

Get Real Recovery offers individualized addiction treatment in a safe and serene environment. We offer a full continuum of care including: detox, residential- inpatient, and four levels of outpatient services. Our approach is to assess underlying causes and triggers that drive an individual to develop the self-sabotaging behaviors associated with addiction. Each client’s individualized treatment plan includes: individual therapy, small support groups, cognitive behavioral therapy (coping skills), holistic healing (mind, body, spirit), 12-Step principles and relapse prevention. We provide optional stress reduction techniques such as: yoga, mindfulness meditation, massage therapy, acupuncture, Reiki, beach walks, organic gardening and assisting our personal professional in-house chef. The BasicsSunspire Health Astoria Pointe is a licensed residential treatment facility that provides a personal approach to care for men suffering from substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. Our highly trained team of physicians, nurses, therapists and residential staff are addiction specialists who will get to know each patient in order to develop an individualized recovery plan. All treatment plans follow an evidence-based, comprehensive model of treatment that heals whole patients as well as their family systems to set men up for a successful life in recovery.Accommodations and FoodSunspire Health’s Astoria Pointe facility is located in quaint, historic Astoria, Oregon, in the coastal Pacific Northwest. The serenity and beauty of Astoria Pointe is ideal for healing body, mind, and spirit. Our facility is set atop a hill with views of the Columbia River and Astoria Bridge, providing an ideal environment for healing and escaping the chaos of addiction. With 30 beds available in the homelike, rancher-style building and nursing staff on-site 24 hours a day, the facility offers accommodations that give peace of mind to men seeking a life of sobriety. Patients have access to reading materials in the group room and an offsite gym, in addition to beach and hiking trail access from the facility for participating in adventure therapy.Treatment and StaffIn addition to its residential/inpatient program, Astoria Pointe offers onsite medical detox (when necessary), Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) at a separate Astoria Pointe building. Each patient receives individualized treatment based on his specific needs for recovery. Patients have many different varieties of therapy available during treatment, including individual therapy, family therapy, CBT, gender-specific group work, psycho-education, motivational interviewing, relapse prevention, and adventure therapy. Alternative therapies such as yoga, meditation, and equine therapy are also offered. The facility has a high staff-to-patient ratio, ensuring that each patient receives the personalized care he deserves.

Holistic Addiction Treatment Offers a Different Approach
For many decades, the twelve-step protocol was the primary approach to treating substance abuse of all sorts. It has had a long history of success, but in recent years a new type of treatment has shown strong growth. Holistic addiction treatment, like other types of holistic health practices, is based on the belief that treating only one aspect of a person’s health is incomplete and counterproductive. In holistic addiction treatment , factors such as nutrition, body work and relaxation techniques are added to more mainstream factors in order to treat the person as a whole, rather than just treating the addiction.
Approaches to Holistic Addiction Treatment
Individual therapy, along with group and family therapy, is still the primary focus of the holistic approach to substance abuse. To this base, however, are added other modes of treatment that have been shown to be highly effective.
Fitness activities, such as tai-chi, yoga, weightlifting and even karate help bring the body back to health. Training in meditation techniques helps the addict learn to deal with stress, often a major factor in substance abuse, and can lead to a deeper sense of spirituality, which can be a source of strength. Self-hypnosis is also an effective stress reliever, and can help the client gain a new belief in him- or herself as a person free of addictions.
