Believe me, your doctor has heard it all and wants to help you be healthy. He can take a physical inventory and help you decide if you need to go through detox to stop drinking. If you do decide that you want to stop drinking, remember that you really do need to do it under a doctor’s supervision, anyway. Depending on how heavily you’ve been drinking, you may find the symptoms will need a physician’s care to help make you more comfortable during the seven to ten day detox period. You’re unlikely to be the first person who has turned to your doctor for alcoholic help, and he will be able to prescribe medicine that will make the detox period more comfortable.
