By means of this recovery process they can realize for the first time in their life that they have been trapped in a world of self destruction.Self help manuals help the compulsive gambler to see things in a new perspective. While a person in under the grips of this addiction they seem to have a hard time focusing on everyday tasks including work. Then one day they realize they have a problem but are not yet ready to deal with it. They start to learn a little more about what’s happening to them. Even though they realize they have a problem, they don’t know what to do or where to go. In most cases they know about Gamblers Anonymous but are unwilling to reveal their identity. They take the time to surf the internet but still not sure what to do.

They see a recovery program that cost less then twenty dollars. They make the excuse that’s ridiculous it should be for free. That same night they decide to go out to the gambling establishment.
